Apple has scheduled the public release of iOS 27 for Monday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Following the ‘Surprise and Shine’ hardware event—which debuted the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo foldable, new Apple Watches, and AirPods 5—users can access the update directly via device settings.
The release centers on Siri AI, a generative conversational model replacing basic voice commands. Supported by a new standalone app and traditional triggers, it aligns the OS with modern large language models.
Hardware tiering applies strict operational boundaries: while iOS 27 supports the iPhone 11 and newer, advanced AI features require an iPhone 15 Pro or later due to localized machine learning processing constraints.
Updates install manually via settings or automatically overnight while locked and connected to power, requiring fleet evaluation for enterprise deployments.
