The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will clash in a historic Week 1 regular-season matchup on September 10, 2026. Hosted at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, the fixture marks a major logistical undertaking, broadcast live on Netflix at 5:35 p.m. Pacific Time.
Logistical Preparation and Player Testing
To mitigate the physiological effects of multi-timezone travel, the Rams utilized a specialized pre-trip testing protocol. In the spring, offensive lineman Kevin Dotson, running back Kyren Williams, receiver Xavier Smith, and defensive lineman Tyler Davis completed the 16-hour flight to Melbourne and 14-hour return. Physical and mental feedback from these trials directly shaped the official travel itinerary.
2025 Performance Metrics and Historical Context
This international contest follows a Week 10 divisional clash in 2025 where the Rams defeated the 49ers 42-26. Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns, connecting with Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Colby Parkinson, and Davis Allen. Kyren Williams added 73 rushing yards and two scores, while Blake Corum contributed 56 yards.
Defensive Execution and Roster Output
Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. anchored the defense in that meeting with an interception and two pass breakups. Inside linebacker Nate Landman recorded 11 total tackles and two tackles for loss, sharing the team tackle lead with safety Quentin Lake and inside linebacker Omar Speights.
Stafford finished the 2025 campaign with 4,707 passing yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Williams registered 1,252 rushing yards, 281 receiving yards, and 13 total touchdowns, while Nacua hauled in 129 catches.
Broadcasting Evolution and Operational Exposure
Transitioning a marquee regular-season game to Netflix underscores shifting media models. By combining international expansion with streaming distribution, the fixture establishes a new operational benchmark for the league.
