NFL trade deadline reveals the ruthless nature of the league, where loyalty is discarded like yesterday’s news, echoing the biblical tale of sacrifice for greater gain; expect chaos as teams scramble to reshape their futures at the cost of beloved players.
The NFL trade deadline is a pivotal moment in the league’s calendar, a time when franchises reassess their strategies, evaluate their rosters, and make bold moves that can redefine their trajectories. The 2025 trade deadline, set for November 4 at 4 p.m. ET, promises to be no exception, with teams already making waves in the lead-up to this critical juncture. The atmosphere is charged with speculation, as rumors swirl around key players, and franchises weigh their options in the quest for success.
Historically, the NFL trade deadline has seen its share of dramatic transactions that have left fans and analysts alike buzzing. The trade of Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 is a prime example of how a single move can alter the landscape of a team and the league as a whole. Similarly, Christian McCaffrey’s trade to the San Francisco 49ers showcased the willingness of teams to make bold decisions in pursuit of championship aspirations. As we approach the 2025 deadline, the stakes are high, and the potential for significant trades looms large.
In the weeks leading up to the deadline, several notable trades have already occurred, signaling a sense of urgency among teams. The Tennessee Titans’ trade of EDGE Dre’Mont Jones to the Baltimore Ravens for a conditional fifth-round pick exemplifies the strategic maneuvering that characterizes this period. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins’ decision to trade EDGE Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 third-round pick reflects a willingness to reshape their roster in pursuit of a brighter future.
The trade market is rife with speculation, and teams are actively exploring their options. The New York Jets, for instance, have been the subject of trade rumors surrounding running back Breece Hall, although reports suggest they are unlikely to part ways with him. This reflects a broader trend in the league, where teams are balancing the desire for immediate improvement with the need to build for the future. The Jets’ decision to hold onto Hall may indicate their confidence in his potential to be a cornerstone of their offense moving forward.
As the deadline approaches, teams are also assessing their defensive needs. The Dallas Cowboys, for example, have reportedly engaged in discussions with the Cincinnati Bengals regarding EDGE Trey Hendrickson and linebacker Logan Wilson, as well as with the Miami Dolphins about OLB Bradley Chubb. The Cowboys’ pursuit of defensive upgrades underscores the importance of bolstering their roster in a competitive NFC landscape. With the team already possessing a high-powered offense, the addition of a key defensive player could be the difference between a playoff run and an early exit.
In contrast, the New England Patriots find themselves in a unique position. Despite their struggles this season, they are actively shopping players like OLB Anfernee Jennings while also looking to make a splash in the trade market. The Patriots’ approach reflects a dual strategy of rebuilding while remaining competitive, a balancing act that can be challenging for any franchise. With ample draft capital and cap space, they are well-positioned to make impactful moves that could reshape their roster.
The landscape of the NFL trade market is also influenced by the performance of individual players. The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly seeking a first-round pick for EDGE Trey Hendrickson, highlighting the value they place on his contributions. Hendrickson’s ability to impact games as a pass rusher makes him a coveted asset, and teams willing to meet the Bengals’ asking price could significantly enhance their defensive front.
Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins are facing their own challenges as they navigate the trade market. Following the firing of their general manager, the team is reportedly open to trading high-profile players like Minkah Fitzpatrick and Jaylen Waddle. The Dolphins’ willingness to entertain offers for these players signals a potential shift in their long-term strategy, as they assess their roster in light of recent struggles.
As teams engage in trade discussions, the potential for blockbuster deals looms large. The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly inquiring about running back options, indicating their desire to bolster their backfield amid injury concerns. With key players like Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton sidelined, the Chargers’ pursuit of running back reinforcements could lead to significant trades that reshape their offense.
The trade deadline is not only about acquiring new talent; it also involves the difficult decisions of letting go of established players. The Washington Commanders, for example, are rumored to be considering offloading aging assets in light of injuries to key players. The potential departure of veterans like Jeremy McNichols and Zach Ertz reflects the harsh reality of the NFL, where performance and health dictate roster decisions.
As the deadline approaches, teams are also exploring the possibility of trading younger players who may not fit into their long-term plans. The New York Giants have reportedly made OL Evan Neal and WR Jalin Hyatt available in trade talks, indicating a willingness to reshape their roster as they seek to build for the future. This approach aligns with a broader trend in the league, where teams are increasingly willing to part with young talent in pursuit of immediate returns.
The NFL trade deadline is a reflection of the league’s competitive nature, where teams are constantly evaluating their rosters and making calculated decisions to improve their chances of success. As the clock ticks down to November 4, expect a flurry of activity as teams scramble to finalize trades that could alter the course of their seasons. The stakes are high, and the potential for chaos is ever-present, making this year’s trade deadline one of the most anticipated events on the NFL calendar.

Latest NFL trade rumors before 2025 deadline
(All times Eastern)
Ravens land Titans EDGE Dre’Mont Jones
Nov. 3 — Baltimore has added to its defensive front, acquiring EDGE Dre’Mont Jones in a trade with the Titans that send back a conditional fifth-round pick that could become a fourth-rounder, per Ian Rapoport. Jones, 28, is a former member of the Broncos and Seahawks.
He’s totaled 4.5 sacks this season as one of the bright spots for Tennessee’s defense, and he’ll now add another pass rush weapon to the Ravens’ defense as the team looks to climb out of a hole and back into playoff contention.
Cowboys DT Mazi Smith listed as healthy inactive with trade rumors
Nov. 3 — Defensive tackle Mazi Smith, a 2023 first-round pick from the Cowboys, was listed as a healthy inactive on "Monday Night Football." Jordan Schultz reported that Smith is "viewed around the NFL as a player available on the trade market." He has appeared in just five games this season after 34 in the prior two, owning 57 career tackles and two sacks.
Cowboys have spoken on Trey Hendrickson, Logan Wilson and Bradley Chubb
Nov. 3 — With defensive upgrades needed in Dallas, the Cowboys have at least "spoken" to the Bengals about EDGE Trey Hendrickson and LB Logan Wilson, along with the Dolphins on OLB Bradley Chubb, according to Jordan Schultz. A source told Schultz that "at least one deal is getting done somewhere" for the Cowboys.
Kevin O’Connell ‘pretty comfortable’ with Vikings’ QB room
Nov. 3 — Despite Carson Wentz’s recent season-ending injury, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said Monday that he is "pretty comfortable" with his quarterback depth chart moving forward, per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert. J.J. McCarthy made his return from injury in a Week 9 win over the Lions, but undrafted rookie Max Brosmer is now Minnesota’s QB2 without Wentz.
The Vikings have been a rumored landing spot for a new backup quarterback, with Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins candidates to be moved. However, O’Connell praised recent practice squad signing John Wolford, per ESPN, saying he would like to get Wolford on the active roster at some point.
Patriots ‘shopping’ OLB Anfernee Jennings
Nov. 3 — Anfernee Jennings, who has not started a game for the Patriots this season, is being "shopped" by the team despite being in "buying mode," per Jordan Schultz. Jennings started 30 games over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, totaling 78 tackles last year with 2.5 sacks.
In six game appearances this season, Jennings has made eight tackles with one sack, falling out of his previous starting linebacker role.
Jerry Jones: Cowboys have made trade to "immediately address" shortcomings
Nov. 3 — Speaking on SiriusXM, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed that he brought in someone to address "some things that have been our shortcomings.” He didn’t give the player’s name, but vowed that the addition will improve the roster. He also claimed to be working on two more trades ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, per The Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris.
Following up later in the day, Jones then said the details of the Cowboys’ trade likely wouldn’t be released until Tuesday, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota.
Giants make OL Evan Neal, WR Jalin Hyatt available in trade talks
Nov. 3 — New York opened up trade talks with teams over OL Evan Neal and WR Jalin Hyatt, per ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan. Ranaan also reported that they’ve engaged in trade talks over available wideouts, including — it seems — the Dolphins for Jaylen Waddle. He’s unlikely to move, however.
Dolphins open to trading Minkah Fitzpatrick
Nov. 3 — The Dolphins already offloaded one of their highest-profile defenders in Jaelan Phillps. Could a second departure be on the way? Insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Dolphins are fielding calls for Fitzpatrick, who has one year left on his contract. The 29-year-old is set to earn more than $18 million in 2026, an unenviable price point for a rebuilding Miami side.
Report: Cardinals, Kyler Murray could part ways in offseason
Nov. 3 — Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that an offseason trade for Kyler Murray is "very realistic." His contract — and its no-trade clause — makes an in-season deal unlikely. But Arizona current regime didn’t draft Murray, nor did it sign him to his current contract. With the Cardinals unlikely to make the playoffs again in 2025, an exit could be on the cards for the former Offensive Rookie of the Year and two-time Pro Bowler.
Will Commanders sell assets in light of Daniels injury?
Nov. 3 — Washington has enjoyed a horror show of a season, felled by underperformance and a wave of injuries. With Jayden Daniels set to miss serious time after dislocating his elbow and Marshon Lattimore (ACL) and Luke McCaffrey (collarbone) out for the season, some believe Washington could offload some of its aging assets, including Jeremy McNichols, Zach Ertz and Von Miller.
Bengals seeking first-round pick for Trey Hendrickson
Nov. 3 — Hendrickson continues to draw trade interest. But if someone is hoping to add him at the trade deadline, it will cost a pretty penny. The Bengals are seeking a first-round pick for his services, according to The Athletic’s Diana Russini.
David Njoku, Jerome Ford drawing interest
Nov. 3 — The Browns could part way with a pair of veterans at the trade deadline, with TE David Njoku and RB Jerome Ford linked with moves away. The former has ceded snaps to rookie Harold Fannin Jr. and is set to count for about $24 million against Cleveland’s salary cap in 2026, although a contract restructuring could alleviate that burden.
Meanwhile, Ford is Cleveland’s backup RB behind Quinshon Judkins. Rookie Dylan Sampson has also seen some burn in Cleveland’s setup. Ford has mostly served as a blocker and third-down back, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry in 2025.
Patriots expected to make a move
Nov. 3 — The Pats are looking to capitalize off of their strong start to the year, reports Graziano. With an abundance of draft capital and cap space at its disposal, New England appears one of the likeliest teams to attempt to make a splash before the trade deadline slams shut.
Texans in need of RB support
Nov. 3 — Houston could also use some reinforcements in its backfield, per Graziano. With Joe Mixon likely to miss the rest of the season, Nick Chubb looking far less potent than he did in past years and Woody Marks dealing with some niggling injuries, the Texans could be in the market for runners ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Chargers inquiring about RBs
Nov. 3 — With Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton on the mend due to Achilles and ankle injuries, respectively, Los Angeles is calling other franchises about running back options, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
Will the Bengals move Logan Wilson?
Nov. 3 — Despite back-to-back losses to the New York Jets and Chicago Bears, the Cincinnati Bengals still appear to fancy themselves contenders for a postseason berth. If that’s the case, as ESPN’s Dan Graziano posits, the franchise likely won’t deal star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. But would that be enough to convince Cincinnati to keep want-away LB Logan Wilson, too?
The veteran has been clear about his desire to move on from the Bengals. Could the Bengals’ defeat to the Bears entice the team into punting one of its most enticing trade chips?
Cowboys tipped to buy at trade deadline
Nov. 3 — With Dak Prescott, George Pickens and Javonte Williams playing at a high-level, Dallas is expected to add to its collection of talent, predicts The Athletic’s Jon Machota.
Dallas’ offense is lapped in starlight. Its defense has proven far more wobbly. Machota expects the Cowboys to add at least one defensive player to its ranks.
Eagles trade for Dolphins EDGE Jaelan Phillips
Nov. 3 — The Eagles are bolstering the defense with a third trade for defensive help, as Philadelphia is acquiring Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips for a third-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers speaks on trade possibility
Nov. 2 — Meyers was asked about the chance he gets traded. He said, per The Athletic’s Mike Silver, "Either way, I’m at peace. I understand my situation. I can’t do anything but ride the wave.”
Report: Titans not expected to move Ridley
Nov. 2 — Rumors of Ridley’s departure were premature, according to ESPN’s Turron Davenport. The Titans have fielded calls for Ridley and other players. But he’s not expected to move, per Davenport.
Titans to entertain offers for Calvin Ridley
Nov. 2 — According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Titans are shopping Ridley, the hulking wideout who agreed to a four-year, $92 million deal with Tennessee in 2024. Ridley, 30, has 16 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown in six games in 2025.
Dolphins will "at least consider" Jaylen Waddle trade
Nov. 2 — Miami previously rebuffed all calls regarding Waddle, but after firing GM Chris Grier, the team will now listen, Ian Rapoport reports. Waddle is currently playing on a three-year, $84.5 million extension and is perhaps the most valuable player on the Dolphins.
Raiders "set a high price" on WR Jakobi Meyers
Nov. 2 — The Steelers and Bills are among the teams interested in the Raiders wide receiver, according to Dianna Russini. Meyers has 329 receiving yards on the season so far.
Bills have called Saints about Chris Olave
Nov. 2 — Buffalo is looking for wide receiver help, and the team has checked in on Saints WR Chris Olave recently, per Dianna Russini. However, the Saints are not expected to trade Olave.
Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips and Matthew Judon among Dolphins drawing interest
Nov. 2 — Dianna Russini reports that the Dolphins are listening to offers on the three pass rushers. For Phillips, specifically, the Patriots, 49ers and Eagles are among the interested teams, and Miami is looking for at least a third-round pick in return.
Eagles acquire CB Jaire Alexander from Ravens
Nov. 1 — The Eagles secured their second cornerback in three days on Saturday, landing former Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander from the Ravens in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Alexander, who arrived in Baltimore one year ago, failed to a record an interception for the Ravens.

Oct. 31 — NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Dolphins fielded offers for a number of players in recent weeks, including Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.
